Catherine Fosket Memorial Scholarship

We Believe In Investing in our Future.

Every year, Grand Island Little Theatre (GILT) awards at least one scholarship to a graduating senior from one of the local area high schools or a current college student. To qualify, the student needs ONE of the following:

  • has been involved with GILT
  • is planning on pursuing a Fine Arts degree in college
  • has been involved with performing arts in high school Applications MUST be postmarked by the deadline.

An independent committee reviews the applications (with names removed) and ranks them from 1 to 5, with one being the highest. The applicant receiving the highest first-place rankings is awarded the scholarship. If the Scholarship Committee deems it appropriate for more than one scholarship to be awarded in any given year, the Board will vote on it.

The GILT scholarship was officially named the Catherine Fosket Memorial Scholarship to honor a long-time member of Grand Island Little Theatre. Catherine gave of herself to the theatre. She loved the theatre and was a volunteer in the truest sense. Rarely appearing on stage, Catherine preferred to work behind the scenes as a director, stage crew, box office, props, and whatever needed to be done. She believed that everyone should be exposed to the thrill and excitement of theatre. The GILT scholarship is given to those individuals who have shown their commitment and dedication to the continuing advancement of the Arts. After all, the world would be a bland place without the arts! The Grand Island Little Theatre has always been very proud of its youth.

Scholarship applications will be provided to schools in Grand Island, Wood River, St. Paul, St. Libory, Central City, Palmer, Aurora, Cairo, and Doniphan.
